What to do during COVID-19 lock down?

With the unfortunate news of a dreadful monster knocking on out doorstep and even entering some of our homes and lives, governments all across the globe have decided to take great measures to reduce the risk of getting infected. One of which is a lock down in some places. So what should we do when we’re stuck at home. How do we be productive? Here are a few things you can do with your friends and family to keep yourself busy and to assist others where possible.

  • Teach kids the rules of cleanliness, wash your hands often and teach the little ones why it’s important. Talk to them about what is happening, sometimes children can sense anxiety in adults and this affects them, making them more fearful.
  • Play games. Scrabble, monopoly, 30 seconds, chess, wordsearches etc. This will keep every one busy and increase knowledge at the same time, it is also a great way to spend more time with your family.
  • Spring clean. Cleaning can be fun, start with unnecessary items which you’ve been meaning to “get rid of” but never seem to have enough time. Well, now is the time!
  • Help with household chores. Yes chores can be annoying and boring but it is a good idea to keep the mind and body busy, so that when you get back to work, it will be easier to get into the groove of things.
  • Have a movie night. Each night let someone choose a movie, that way each one will have a chance to watch what they want without upsetting others. It’s also a great time to catch up on all those series you missed out on.
  • Try new recipes. Cooking/baking can be fun. Now is a good time to try those new recipes which have been saved up in your phone for almost a decade. Get cooking!
  • Be artistic. Try painting or drawing, let your artist out and show the world what you can do. Art does not have to be something like Mona Lisa, art is anything which you put your heart into, it can even be a little doodle /scribble here and there. Just express yourself.
  • Read. If you’re  bookworm like me, then go ahead and finish that book which you said you’ll get to “soon”. You can even borrow one from your neighbor or reread an old one. Get some peace of mind. I also recently read that instead of trying to home school your child/children, rather read and play intellectual games with them, this will reduce your stress as well as their fears. It will also give them more knowledge through books.
  • Phone a friend. Well not just a friend, phone family members who you have not spoken to in a long time, keep up with friends, you can even call your local GP/doctor just to check up on them, remember they’re the ones who are being exposed to the COVID-19 more than us. You can also phone someone who you have wronged in the past and try and make amends, maybe this is a means for us to make peace with one another and live happier and healthier lives.
  • Work from home. If you’re not sure when you will be starting work again, look for some great work from home opportunities to keep you company and give you some side income. I will be uploading a list of work from home opportunities, so subscribe for the notifications.

  • Well that’s all I can think of right now. I typed this on my phone therefore I apologize for the cramped up paragraphs and shortness of the Blog.

Remember that if we follow what the government and doctors are saying, then together we can fight this #strongertogether.

    Stay safe!
