What if you woke up to sun shining brightly outside you home?
What if you woke up to the sound of rain gently tapping on your window?
What if you looked in the mirror and loved the person you saw?
What if you had the ability to make a difference in someone’s life?
What if you had a job to look forward to?
What if you were studying something which you loved?
What if you ignored the people who hate you?
What if you gave your time to those who loved you?
So, why don’t you?
Why don’t you ignore those who hate you?
Why don’t you spend time with your loved ones?
Why don’t you go out and help someone?
Why don’t you make your own happiness?
Why don’t you wake up and be happy with the day you are given?
Why don’t you love yourself?
Why don’t you…?
In the advanced technological world that we live in, many people feel offended by the smallest things, people seem unhappy with almost everything, this is one of the biggest reasons why depression has increased in our society. People feel afraid to talk, they feel afraid to express themselves, they feel afraid to go out and try something new, for the fear of “what will people say”. If you love something do it, you want to sing, go out and sing, you want to dance, then do it. Want to become a teacher, study towards it, do you want to become a doctor, why not!?
I was told I would never become a teacher, that I was more of a “quiet person” who could never raise her voice to kids, but I never saw it that way. I saw it as becoming a passion to teach kids how to read and write, to see smiles on their faces when they are happy, to be able to make a difference in their lives, and give them an education. And today… I am studying towards my teaching career, because I learnt not to be afraid of “what will people say”.
Let us feel blessed with what we have, let us learn to love ourselves, our families and our friends. If you want something get up and work for it. But don’t give up because someone told you, “You can’t do it” or ‘it’s not your kind of thing”. Do it because you want to, because it’s your passion, because it makes a difference, but mostly because …. it makes you happy.
This post was inspired by Lilly Singh (aka Superwoman). She has inspired me and many others to do what we love.
Thank You Lilly!
