Trees give shelter but not all bear fruit..

She walked into her apartment, her feet were paining from wearing heels all day. She kicked off her new Louboutins and stretched her toes. Ah finally! Tomorrow is a big day, she has to save all her energy for the event tomorrow evening. She breathed a sigh of relief as she walked to her kitchen, this was her happy place. She loved cooking, she remembered her childhood, how all the girls would play with their dolls and have tea parties and she would always volunteer to bring the cupcakes or biscuits, sometimes even pasta. Yes they would have pasta with their ‘tea’ (tea being water). The good old days, she smiled as she put the macaroni to boil. She was too tired to make anything fancy, mac and cheese it is. She put on her favourite playlist as she grated the cheese, soft music began to play and she sang along to every word, ‘we were just kids when we fell in love, not knowing what it was, I will not give you up this time’, memories started flooding her mind, she missed him, his arms around her waist, the way they would sing together, back then she did not know every word, she would just hum along while he sang the song, word for word. It’s been two years since he left her, two years since he said he couldn’t be with her, two years since he walked out the door, only because she could not bear children…

He’s married now, one kid on the way. Back then she was just a waitress, after getting her degree in Business Management, it was difficult to get a job, everyone wanted you to have 3 or more years of experience, she then started her own small e-commerce website, and today she is the most successful business woman in her country. But the sorrow she felt, that she may never be good enough for anyone, all because she could not bear children. It was not her fault though, she remembers the accident, the drunk driver coming in full speed onto her lane, the head-on collision, she was only 21, she had just got her driver’s license. But even that happiness never lasted.

Little did she know, her happiness was waiting for her at tomorrow’s event…
